INTRODUCTION TO MANUAL
The purpose of this manual is to assist requesters as to the procedure to be followed when requesting access to information as contemplated in the Act.  This manual may be amended from time to time.  The latest version will be made public.

A Guide has been compiled by the Human Rights Commission.  A person wishing to exercise any right contemplated by PAIA may download the Guide from www.sahrc.org.za

The Guide is available at the offices of the Human Rights Commission in all official languages at 29 Princess Wales Terrace, c/o York and St. Andrew Street, Parktown.

No notice have been published on the categories of records that are automatically available without a person having to request access in terms of PAIA.

    SUBJECTS AND CATEGORIES OF RECORDS HELD BY Savage Rowley under Section 51(1)(e)

    In terms of the Act, the automatic disclosure by private companies is voluntary.  This means that a private company is not obliged to make such a disclosure.  If a private company chooses to make such a voluntary disclosure, it may do so by giving notice in terms of Section 52(2) of the Act.  At this stage no records are automatically available.  If the situation change Savage Rowley will update this manual.

    PROCEDURE TO REQUEST ACCESS
    You must use the prescribed form to make the request for access to information to a record by downloading the form from the Department of Justice Website at www.doj.gov.za

  • Your request must be made to the relevant Information Officer.
  • Your request must be made to the address or electronic e-mail address as set out above, with sufficient detail on the request form to enable the Information Officer to clearly identify the record as well as your specific identity.
  • You must indicate the form of access that is required and specify a postal address or e-mail address of the requester in the Republic.
  • Identify the right that the requester is seeking to exercise or protect and provide an explanation of why the requested record is required for the exercise or protection of that right.
  • You will receive a written reply if you wish to be informed of the decision on your request in another manner please state that manner and the necessary particulars to be informed in the other manner.
  • If a request is made on behalf of another person, you must submit proof of the capacity in which the requester is making the request to the reasonable satisfaction of the head of the private body Stefanie Savage as set out above.
